![]() SERIOUS TUTORS MAKING A DIFFERENCE AT SCOOTNEY Eleven 6th grade students from Ms. Bowers' reading class have volunteered their time at the end of each school day to provide intentional and explicit support to 2nd grade reading students. The tutors listen to their students practicing passages from the next day's Reading Mastery Lesson. The tutors have been trained to make the necessary correction procedures if their student makes an error. The tutors then write down the errors for their future reference, as well as the students' classroom teachers' reference. Tutors also reward students for correct reading by giving them a sticker and praising them. Both tutors and participants will be given a book after 25 days of participation. The tutors were trained by Reading Coach, Donna Bartkowski. Mrs. Bartkowski has 40 years of teaching experience at all grade levels - K-12. We are proud of our very own, specially trained, and young, "tutors". We know that our 2nd grade students will benefit greatly from this reading experience! |
